A new year has begun, and new interior design trends are making their way through our doorsteps and into our hearts.
Every year, interior design renews itself and new trends start surfacing the market. Maison & Objet is the first big trade show of the year and the perfect place to look for new and exciting trends! And while we wait for Maison & Objet’s doors to open on the 19th, let’s take a look at what the interior design trends 2018 ~oficial~ list marks as a must have and a must go…
HANDPICKED FOR YOU: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall… Who’s the best inspiration of all?
What’s out for good…
Industrial chic interiors have officially run their course and they don’t seem to be coming back in a near future. People are done with minimalist and overly white spaces and rather go with colors and bolder elements. The mid-century modern design might also be on its way out, but for now, it has still been gathering a few followers. Let’s see how that pans out in the upcoming months…
Ombré fabrics and carpets
The ombré fever has now come to an end and people seem to be over the ombré everything. These fabrics, carpets, and wallpapers will most likely not be featured in any fashionista and interior design lover’s home in 2018. Instead, look for more tropical or floral prints…
Black & white
The classic black and white pairing is now officially ~dead~. Black and white, as well as beige and very neutral interiors, will definitely not be a thing in 2018. As with the minimal industrial chic interiors, people are going for more intricate rooms that are filled with colors.
What’s in to stay…
Out with the ombré prints, and in with the bold, geometric and floral patterns! Interior designers are definitely going back to the classics, and chintz might just be the black for the upcoming Spring/Summer season! Tropical prints will still be a huge thing, but we believe floral patterns might be the next millennial pink and flamingos trend.
As we say goodbye to black and white interiors, new cheery hues are making their way to our homes. With a statement Ultra Violet as Color of the Year, this might be an opening way to a new lilac trend after the huge success with Millennial Pink last year. One thing is for sure… Sherbet colors and happy tones will be in every home in 2018!
People and interior designers are over with simply decorated spaces. More than that, people are looking for spaces that are curated especially for them. Everyone loves to feel unique and to live in a place that feels like home! So, as home decor trends go, this might be a big year for curated spaces lovers and collectors!
Velvet upholstered furniture was very big during the last few months of 2017, and this interior design trend appears to have made its way all the way to 2018. Interior designers will still be betting on velvet and other rich materials to create intricate and comfortable spaces that will feel inviting and thought down to the last detail.
Forget minimalism. But also, forget about those intricate chandeliers we have been seeing for the past years. What interior designers are truly betting on these days are oversized pendant lamps! Lighting is always key when putting an interior together, and for 2018, all we want to see are stunningly well-made pendant lamps that tell a story and add to the space that is being created.
