There are a few problems with houses in general, as we know them. One of them is the floor space they occupy, which limits the number of houses possible to build, which makes constructers go for tall buildings, which can obstruct other home’s views. Another problem is the construction time, it can take one year or even more to build a house from foundation up. Another thing is the pollution that they cause, especially in their construction. Then, there are the resources needed to build one, which can cause the price of the house to go higher.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but people are spending less and less time on their homes because, nowadays, most things are done outside of it like, work, lunch, exercising, and so on.
What happened here was, Marco Casagrande took all of that into consideration and designed Tikku.
Tikku is a micro-house that as a floor area of 12,5m^2 (2,5m x 5m), the average area of a car parking space.
With a total area of 37,5m^2, Tikku has three floors (great for that city glimpse), the first one being a work area, the second one the sleeping area and the third one a greenhouse/living room.
Now, you may ask: “What about a bathroom or a kitchen??”.
Well, here’s the thing, Tikku has a dry toilet, for starters, but not a complete bathroom, because there is no running water in the house, which makes it hard to take a shower. It also does not have a kitchen because, as Marco says, people are spending little time on their homes, sometimes not even having a meal in it, therefor, no kitchen. Another reason for Tikku not having running water or a kitchen is because Tikku is designed for cities where people have easy access to it.
What Tikku does have is its own solar panel system, for the heaters and lighting.
Another two great features of Tikku is the construction time and the strength.
Those two may seem contradictory because of what I’m about to say, but it makes sense, just bear with me.
Oh, that’s right, Tikku is habitable overnight. Yep, that’s right, overnight.
But Marco Casagrande has more envisioned for Tikku. Not only habitational, but Tikku can be good for offices, stores, workshops or even hotels.
Oh, and the average price of Tikku? £31.500. With transportation, obviously.
So, there you have it. Tikku is a great solution for the modern housing crisis, offering a great solution, at a reasonable price, with reasonable, modern updated, conditions.
