Summer means green, yellow, blue and everything beach and sun related. And because our home decor should reflect our state of mind, it is time to be out with the dark, and in with the cheery and patterned pillows, chairs, and rugs! Pastels and candy colors still spark a little bit of controversy, with people saying they have seen their days, and others arguing that these tones are here to stay. As you might be guessing, we belong to the latter group… We will keep on loving pastel colors and how they can make any boring monochromatic room feel like paradise with its soft yellow and pink tones.
We saw a lot of geometric patterns last year, and this year history repeats itself. A huge trend that started all the way back in the 1960s, geometric patterns are still flooding our homes and making all the latest design trends news and lists. You can incorporate geometrics into your home decor in many ways: wallpapers, lighting fixtures, accessories, even actual furniture!
And because it wouldn’t be Summer without a few green, plants and foliage overall, are still huge interior design trends for the Summer of 2018! Plants have a way of making any room feel livelier and lived in, they also create a feeling of comfort. If you don’t have a particularly green thumb, invest in a few succulents.
Another color that we will definitely be seeing a lot of during the Summer of 2018 will be indigo blue. You don’t necessarily have to paint a whole living room with indigo blue, but you can try to accessorize with a few inky blue details. Thinks pillows, vases, flowers, even an armchair. Mix it up with different styles and dimensions to create depth in your room and see it all come together.
Metallics were a huge trend for the past year, and this year the trend seems to be focusing on a single shade: gold. A little bit more powerful and bold that silver, which is easily overpowered with other tones, this tone of glittery gold has a life of its own and it comes to make a statement in every room you decide to use it. It can be seen in many furniture trends, but if you don’t want to commit to a whole piece in glittery gold, go with small details such as door knobs.
The great thing about tropical themed decors is that they can be used both indoors and outdoors. If you’re going with a tropical themed interior, expect a lot of colors, interesting patterns, such as tropical leaf patterns which can be found in small accessories such as throw pillows, or more complex parts of your decor, like the accent wallpaper you’re applying to your main wall.
