Have you heard the news? London will be even more exciting in the upcoming days. Time to know why!
For all the design and high craftsmanship aficionados that are going to be in London for the next couple of weeks, now might be a good time to remind you that London Craft Week is about to begin. From the 9th until the 13th of May, London will once again be the stage for this amazing event that celebrates craftsmanship, as well as local and international creative arts.
What is London Craft Week?
Dedicated to celebrating outstanding British and other international creative thinkers and makers, London Craft Week is now on its fourth edition, happening from Mayfair to Shoreditch and from Greenwich to Hampstead. The design festival will be happening from the 9th until the 13th of May, so you’d better get to London right away.
For those of you who are yet not familiar with the craftsmanship definition, if we were to define craftsmanship, we would probably start by telling you it is the mastering of a certain skill, or a particular art. However, it is much more than that.
Nowadays that the term craftsmanship is so trendy, the importance of high-quality design and custom, handmade pieces seems to be gaining bigger and bigger proportions. Now more than ever, people are turning to bespoke furniture brands to look for unique objects of beauty and substance, in a world where mass production is still leading the way.
Inside DelightFULL’s workshop.
London Craft Week tries to keep up with that global trend, allowing visitors from all over the world to the meet the makers of some of their favorite handcrafted pieces, as well as gain exclusive access to current exhibitions in London, demonstrations, and even workshops.
“London Craft Week is a response to a renaissance in the appreciation of creativity and craft; to the role of hand, head, unique skills and true talent. It is another example of what, at its best, the world’s creative capital does so well – mixing glamour with cutting edge; heritage and contemporary and the commercial with the cultural.” Guy Salter, OBE MVO, Chairman of London Craft Week
