Abbey Road is one of the world’s most famous cultural landmarks. 47 years ago, The Beatles posed there outside Abbey Road studios for the cover of their 11th album. Since then many fans try to re-create the image which shows the Fab Four striding across the zebra crossing. Here is a good news for all Beatles fans.
Taipei-based design studio Bito has teamed up with “The Beatles, tomorrow” exhibition to release an inspiring and retro set of 3D printed toy figurines based on The Beatles, called Bitoy (as a combination of the studio’s name and the word ‘toy’). This set is designed to be an original tribute to the biggest band in the world.
“With their iconic pose on Abbey Road, people may place the Bitoy as decoration or play with it as well when they are low at energy. The Bitoy is not just a toy to sell but a designer’s collection to share love and happiness,” They say.

The company has been founded by Taiwanese artist and designer Keng-Ming Liu, who masterminded the stunning design of the Bitoy set. As he explained, his inspiration came from a positive attitude and from classic designer dolls. Previously working in New York for several years, dolls have always fascinated him. “I remember when I get first pay check from my first job in NY, I didn’t go to a restaurant to celebrate, instead I ran into the East Village Toy Tokyo Designer doll store and bought a set of designer dolls,” he explained. “From then on, I looked forward to converting these little monsters in my mind into tangible dolls, to be played with and collected by other designers.”
The result is a gorgeous set that, according to its developer, was simply born from a positive attitude. When asked about what inspired the dolls, Liu simply said the key is to make work fun and to love designing. “All you need is LOVE!”
Bito has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the Bitoy on Taiwanese crowdfunding website zeczec.com, and already raised 1.46 million Taiwan Dollars ((or about $46,000 in US dollars) in pledges. That is more than four times the money they were hoping to raise, and the campaign won’t even conclude until 6 hours from now. While a pledge of 3600 Taiwan Dollars (about $115) was enough to get a set, all are already taken for. While even the designers at Bito wouldn’t have dreamed of this much success, it’s clear why these 3D printed figurines are popular. Thanks to an adorable and retro-style recreation of the iconic Abbey Road appearance, these dolls of John, Paul, George and Ringo will not just appeal to fans young and old.
