7 Things to Do in Cannes That’ll Make You Want to Move There

If for you Cannes only means Cannes Film Festival, by the end of this post you will have discovered a whole new world.

The South of France… That almost idyllic place where it seems like it is always Summer, and people live worry-free lives in their big houses, with their fancy cars. And amidst all that luxurious life, there is Cannes, which is at the center of it all. If you have never visited the South of France, here are 7 things to do in Cannes that will make you want to move there ASAP!

1. Promenade at Le Croisette

One of the first things you should do when arriving in Cannes is to go with the typical cliché activity and take a long walk at Le Croisette. It’s an amazing chance to see the paradisiac mediterranen beaches and visit some shops that belong the most renowned names in the luxury fashion industry.

2. Live the film festival season

The acclaimed Cannes Film Festival will be running from the 5th of May until the 19th. This means that if you’re a movie aficionado this is the time to be in Cannes! And while you may not be on the red carpet with all the great actors you love so much, there will be multiple screenings happening around town, and who knows… maybe you can even spot a celebrity?

3. Visit Palais des Festivales

Even if you can’t attend Cannes Film Festival, there is no harm in taking a few hours to visit the actual place where it is held every year. Book a tour and walk the same steps as some of your favorite movie actors and directors.

4. Shop with the locals at Marché Forville

If you love to indulge in local products and get to know locals better and their customes, all you have to do is take a few hours in the morning to go shopping at Marché Forville. Your little Summer getaway will take you to Provence and Cannes all in one place!

5. Take a ferry to Île Sainte-Marguerite

If you find yourself in a gorgeous Cannes beach and wonder what lies ahead, you can – and should – take a ferry and go to Île Sainte-Marguerite. After a 15 minute ferry ride you will find yourself away from the city stress, in a place where even in the busiest days, you will always find a place just for you.

6. Walk up Le Suquet

Climb Cannes’ old quartier, Le Suquet, and take the time to visit one of Cannes’ few medieval buildings, which holds an amazing museum, Musée de la Castre. After you have taken a tour of the museum, which holds many artefacts from the French discoveries, make sure to climb the 109 steps to the top of the square tower, and get an upgrade on the view of the bay from the terrace.

7. Photograph all the painted walls

For almost twenty years now, Cannes has been reafirming their stand on the cinematic world. As you stroll around town, you will see many murals and façades painted with iconic actors, characters and scenes from some of the most popular movies of our times. Go to Boulevard Vallombrossa to snap a photo of a gorgeous painting of Charlie Chaplin and “The Kid”!
