9. Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty

The duo that presented Best Picture last year finally had the chance to redeem themselves this year. Memorable actors Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty got up on stage last night to present nothing other than… Best Picture! They were exceptionally professional and graceful, and everything we could have hoped for.

8. When Jimmy Kimmel and a bunch of celebrities gave out candy!

Yes, this actually happened! After Ellen’s iconic pizza party, and Jimmy Kimmel’s announcement that the Oscars are a really long show, the host decided to gather a series of his celebrity friends – which included Oscar nominee Margot Robbie, Gal Gadot, Lupiya Nyong’o, Guillermo Del Toro, and Mark Hamill – to go out on the room and give out candy!

7. 14th time’s the charm

Well, it seems like Leonardo DiCaprio was not the only one to be patiently waiting for his time to win an Oscar. Cinematographer Roger Deakins had been nominated fourteen times before he finally took home the golden statue last night for his outstanding work on Blade Runner 2049! Congrats!

6. Jimmy Kimmel’s opening speech

Jimmy Kimmel was so amazing last year that the Academy asked him to host this year’s cerimony again! Of course, the opening speech is always one of the Oscar highlights everyone is waiting to hear about. We loved it! With grace and just the right amount of comedy, Kimmel tackled all the issues we were waiting for: #TimesUp, last year’s Best Picture drama and this year’s amazing nominees. Thank you Jimmy Kimmel for another great year!

5. Gary Oldman winning his first Oscar

The 90th Academy Awards marked a lot of firsts, and this was also Gary Oldman’s first time winning the golden statue. Brilliant actor Gary Oldman finally took home his first Oscar last night, and after such an amazing performance in Darkest Hour, it was more than deserved!

4. #TimesUp

The #TimesUp movement had an amazing segment dedicated to it, with three of its fierce advocates getting on stage and seizing this moment to talk about what still needs to be heard. Salma Hayek, Ashley Judd, and Annabella Sciorra introduced a segment celebrating “equality, diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality,” and if you didn’t get a chance to see it, go rewatch the Oscars now!

3. Jordan Peele’s big moment

History was written last night when Jordan Peele stood up to receive the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, making him the first black screenwriter to ever get such a recognition. Although Peele didn’t take home the statue for Best Director, which would have been equally fair, we are still glad we could witness history in the making!

2. When The Shape of Water won it all!

Although Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri started the night as the public’s and critic’s favorite to win Best Picture, with some people betting on Get Out to be the surprise of the evening – due to the 2018 Independent Spirit Awards -, in the end, it was Guillermo Del Toro’s fable The Shape of Water that took home the coveted golden statue!

1. Guillermo Del Toro making sure they really won the Oscar

And finally, the precious moment when The Shape of Water director Guillermo Del Toro jokingly took the Best Picture envelope in his hands to make sure they really had won! Spoiler alert, they did and we couldn’t be happier for all the producers and crew that made this movie a reality.
