Today marks the day of the passing of one of the most iconic fashion designers in the world. Karl Lagerfeld, creative director for Chanel, dies at the age of 85, carrying with him an undeniable legacy in the world of fashion. We’re paying a homage to a life dedicated to fashion that was able to revolutionize the industry.

The “Emperor” of fashion, Karl Lagerfeld was a German creative director, artist, photographer and caricaturist, born on the 10th of September of 1933. He was known for being the creative director of Chanel since 1983 until the time of his death, but also for being the creative director for Fendi, the italian fur and leather goods luxury brand.

Besides working for Chanel and Fendi, he was also a designer himself with a brand in his name and incredible designs that put him on the spotlight, combining Parisian-inspired styles with an effortless, rock-chic ease. “I design like I breathe,” he says of his artistic process, “you don’t ask to breathe — it just happens.”
Chanel Cruise in Paris, 2019. Models like Gigi and Bella walked the runaway next to a 148-metre-long ship. After the Cruise 2019 collection finale, all guests were invited on the boat (named La Pausa after Chanel’s villa in the Cote d’Azur) for an after-party.
Chanel Supermarket AW14. Possibly the most iconic catwalk show to date, the Chanel supermarket was a runaway like no other, bringing to the guests an experience that was unique and new. Shelves upon shelves of Chanel products on display and models hitting the Grand Palais with trolley in tow stocking up on the essentials was certainly a dream come true.
Karl Lagerfeld brought stunning runaway shows in the name of Chanel, always with that touch of uniqueness and extra that he was known for. With sunglasses covering his eyes and wearing black, he took over the industry step by step.
The news of his death hit the world of design hard. Many stars took on social media to pay their homage to the man that changed the industry.
