Spazio900 is a point of reference for lovers of modern and vintage design. Situated in Milan, Italy, this is an important and prestigious store for people who enjoy Mid-Century Design items.
Opened over twenty years ago, by Enza de Iluiis and Adriano Albini, nowadays, this gallery is not that far from where it was first set up. Later, in 1993, they opened a second store in Brera Design District.
The couple often emphasize the importance of upcycling old furniture. Many times, it is thrown away by its owners, that don’t reflect on how it can be adapted to a contemporary interior.
This beautiful venue can also be hired for photoshoots or used as a film set. Besides that, every year – because of Salone del Mobile – Spazio900 puts on display installations and exhibitions, in attempt to focus the public attention to upcycling. You can see the what they’ve done in 2015, when the via Ventura loft apartment was taken over by three installations.
In the most creative way, they thought of an especially way to set the room, allowing it to put together three different historic periods: the fifties were upside down, on the ceiling; the sixties were hanging from the walls, and the seventies were in the center of the large room.
Those armchairs perfectly represent the key decades in Modern Design History. On the ceiling, was the Shell Rocker Chairs; on the floor, the Eames Lounge Chair with footrest. And the one that specially catches our attention: the Up armchair, which was originally designed in ‘62 by Gaetano Pesce for B&B.
