You have know idea the world of knowledge that awaits once the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit opens its doors once again.
The doors to the second edition of the Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit will open on the 26th of June at 11AM, which is exactly one week from today. And while we have already lifted the veil a little bit on what you can expect to see on the second edition of the design event, today we are sharing with you a guideline that will hopefully improve your experience during the Summit. Take a look at our day guide and tips below!
After a greatly received first edition last year, the luxury market-oriented event organized by COVET Group and its Covet Foundation is back for more. The second edition of the Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit will happen in Porto between the 26 and the 27 of June, 2019.
Much like last year, the event will take place at Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar, designed by Pritzker Prize winner architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, and feature multiple talks on design, craftsmanship, and luxury marketing strategies. You can find more general details about the event here.
June 26 – Design Excellence and Craftsmanship Heritage
After a small sunset and warm-up party on the 25th at Covet Valley, the first day will have the doors open at 11AM. During the morning, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a soft opening of the event, where several workshop exhibitions will be put on display for attendees to get a sense of the different arts and crafts that make the world of COVET Group and furniture design, overall.
Expert tip: make sure to take your time in each of the exhibitions during this part of the day, as the event won’t probably be as crowded as it will in the afternoon. Enjoy the extra time to meet the artisans and find out more about their crafts.
The afternoon will officially open the Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit second edition with an opening ceremony led by COVET Group’s CEO, Amândio Pereira, followed by two panels and open discussions on design and craftsmanship.
The first panel, A Dialogue Between Design and Artisanal Excellence, will welcome designers such Christian Haas and Emmanuel Babled into an open talk about the need to mix design and its artisanal heritage to create unique products. Moderated by Michelangelo Foundation’s Nicole Segundo, the panel kicks off at 3.45PM.
The second and last panel of the day, Present and Future of Craftsmanship, moderated by Portuguese journalist Marina de Almeida, will sit four names in the craftsmanship industry to talk about what the future holds for this seemingly disappearing, yet crucial industry for what it means to create great products. The panel starts at 4.45PM, after a small intermission.
Expert tip: don’t be afraid to ask questions and participate in the discussion that follows the panel. Remember that all guests are experts in their areas, and they will surely be able to shed a light on the burning questions that might be running through your mind.
June 27 – Luxury Marketing and Crafting
The exclusive design event in Porto will carry on during the 27th of June for one last day dedicated to luxury marketing and crafting. The doors will open just before 10AM, when a keynote speaker will kick off the last day before the first panel.
The third panel of the Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit will be held at 10.30AM on the 27th. The General Manager at Bentley + Lamborghini Miguel Costa, and the General Manager at Belcinto, Ana Maria Vasconcelos will join Luís Pedro Martins, President of Turismo do Porto e do Norte de Portugal, and Rita Sambado, founder of EUS School of Being for a dialogue on the luxury marketing industry. Marketing: Winning High-End Consumers will have these four experts talking about the importance of marketing on attracting new consumers in the luxury niches.
In the afternoon, after the opportunity to see multiple artisans working on set, a fourth and final panel on design and crafting will be held, just before the closing ceremony. Design and Crafting: Criteria to Excellence will bring together two designers, a strategy developer, and an international brand manager to talk about what meets the criteria to achieve excellence in design and crafting.
Expert tip: take the last day to explore all the workshops and exhibitions, if you hadn’t had the chance before. Make sure to mingle and start connections that will empower you and your brand, if that is the case.
