It was this Thursday, Dec. 7 that Pantone unveiled their color of the year for 2018. After a lot of buzz and people hoping for a darker tone this time, Pantone gracefully presented us with Ultra Violet, a shade of purple that won’t stay out of our minds.
“Inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.” That’s how Pantone presented Ultra Violet to the world. After a renewed year filled with fresh starts and Greenery, Pantone is now trying to bring the idea of originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking to the table, getting us to think about that in 2018. Ultra Violet comes to emphasize the idea of the magic world we live in, of what might lie ahead of us and the discoveries that are beyond where we are right now.
In home decor
When it comes to home decor, Ultra Violet comes to break boundaries and help interior designers bring the idea of self-expression into a room. An accent color by excellence, there is no way a room will ever be the same after having been added a pop of Ultra Violet.
Expressing a will of breaking boundaries, Ultra Violet is the right choice if you are looking to get a bolder look for your interior. You can use it in a big accent piece, or in small details across your living room, for example.

Pantone had already presented their Fashion Color Palettes for Spring 2018 a few months ago. Well, now it only seems mandatory to see Ultra Violet on the big runways next February.

Salvatore Ferragamo had his eye on Ultra Violet well before all of us and boasted this rich counterculture hue on their Fall ’17 runway show. All we can say for now is that we will be hoping to see more of this color on the New York Fashion Week, Paris, and Milan runways in the beginning of the year!
